Founder of the civic platform Georgia’s European Orbit, former Public Defender Nino Lomjaria has criticized the decision by former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia’s political party to enter Parliament, saying “their real mistake was not the boycott itself, but leaving the ruling Georgian Dream party.”
In a social media post on Monday, Lomjaria argued that Gakharia’s team continued to place personal and party interests above those of the public.
“It seems your mistake wasn’t the boycott but leaving the Georgian Dream. Your political outcome is putting personal and party interests above the people’s and creating an artificially divided opposition over two elections. Now you can roll that party of yours back and forth in Parliament like a rumba ball,” Lomjaria wrote.
Her comments followed the announcement by the For Georgia party that it planned to end its parliamentary boycott, saying the move had not yielded the desired results.
