A jubilee creative evening dedicated to the renowned Georgian composer Otar Tatishvili was held on Monday at the Georgian National Opera and Ballet Theater of Tbilisi.

The audience had the opportunity to enjoy large-scale symphonic works from the composer’s rich and diverse musical legacy, performed by acclaimed Georgian and international soloists.

The programme featured Violin Concerto, Konzertstück DEJA VU, Cello Concerto and Symphony No.1.

For the special occasion, cellist Alexander Piriyev from Germany and violinist Aida Ayupova from Kazakhstan visited Georgia for the first time. The concert also featured Georgian pianist Tamar Licheli and the Opera Orchestra conducted by Maestro David Mukeria.

The evening offered listeners a chance to immerse themselves in the fascinating and multifaceted world of one of Georgia’s most distinguished contemporary composers.

At the end of the concert, Tatishvili expressed his gratitude to the audience, his family, the organisers and supporters.

“I gladly created a three-part instrumental concerto. I wanted to convey, through music, the European and Eastern influences that characterise our country’s location and mentality. That is why the musical texture is woven with themes of contrasting content”, the composer said.

The event was organised by the Creative Union of Composers of Georgia with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Creative Georgia, the Tbilisi Opera, Georgian Public Broadcaster, Imedi TV, Radio Fortuna and the Lutecia perfumery trade network.
