Georgia has expanded its State Diabetes Management Program to provide diabetes medications to foreign nationals held in the country's penitentiary system, the Ministry of Health said.
The change also applies to individuals in penitentiary institutions who do not possess documents confirming Georgian citizenship.
The ministry said the amendment is intended to improve the efficiency of the program and enhance the management of beneficiaries.
Until now, insulin for foreign inmates was supplied by the relevant department of the Ministry of Justice.
