Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, speaking to journalists on Monday, said Moscow remained open to improving its relationship with Tbilisi but noted that no concrete timeline had been set.
“There are no specific deadlines, but the fact that Russia is truly ready to take steps to normalise relations is true,” Peskov said. “We are interested in establishing good relations with all countries that are ready for this and want it.”
His comments echoed earlier remarks by Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Galuzin, who told Russian media that Moscow was prepared to restore full diplomatic relations with Georgia.
“We are ready to go as far as the Georgian side is ready. There are no restrictions for us here,” Galuzin claimed.
Russia and Georgia broke off diplomatic ties in 2008 following the war. While limited cooperation has resumed in recent years, including the restoration of direct flights and easing of travel rules, formal diplomatic relations remain suspended.
