Vehicle traffic will be fully restricted at First Republic Square in Tbilisi from 23:00 on 7 July until 08:00 on 21 July due to public screenings of the football World Cup, Tbilisi City Hall has said.
The temporary closure will cover the section between the intersection of Shota Rustaveli Avenue and First Republic Square and the junction with Merab Kostava Street.
During the restrictions, vehicles travelling from Rustaveli Avenue will not be able to enter First Republic Square. Traffic heading towards Kostava Street will be diverted via Mikheil Javakhishvili and Merab Kostava streets.
Vehicles approaching from Mikheil Javakhishvili Street will also be unable to enter First Republic Square and will continue towards the Tbilisi State Concert Hall. Traffic from Kostava Street will be permitted only towards Rustaveli Avenue and Freedom Square.
The restrictions will also affect public transport routes No. 359 and No. 457.
Bus No. 359, travelling from Marjanishvili Street towards Vake, will no longer enter First Republic Square from Mikheil Javakhishvili Street and will instead continue towards Kostava Street before returning to its regular route. The return route will remain unchanged.
Minibus No. 457, travelling from Marjanishvili Street towards Rustaveli Avenue, will also bypass First Republic Square, continuing from Mikheil Javakhishvili Street to Tabukashvili Street and then reaching Rustaveli Avenue via Lagidze Street before resuming its regular route. The return route will remain unchanged.
