The Ministry of Internal Affairs on Saturday reported the arrest of seven individuals on drug-related charges following a series of operations carried out by police departments in Tbilisi, Kakheti, Guria, Imereti, and Mtskheta-Mtianeti.

The charges include the illegal purchase, possession, cultivation, and large-scale distribution of narcotic substances, crimes that carry penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.

Searches of the suspects’ homes, auxiliary buildings, and yards - as well as a specially arranged greenhouse for drug cultivation - led to the seizure of 209 cannabis plants, along with marijuana and buprenorphine.

The Ministry said that investigations into drug-related crimes remain ongoing across Georgia.
