Georgian police have arrested three foreign nationals in Tbilisi on charges of illegally acquiring and possessing firearms and ammunition as a group, the Interior Ministry said.

The arrests were made during a joint operation conducted by officers from the ministry’s Tbilisi and Adjara police departments.

According to the Interior Ministry, investigators searched a temporary residence used by the suspects in Tbilisi and seized four handguns of different models, 156 rounds of ammunition and five magazines.

Police said the weapons and ammunition had allegedly been illegally acquired and stored by the suspects acting as a group.

All three individuals were taken into custody and formally charged.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 236, Part 6 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which covers the illegal acquisition and possession of firearms and ammunition committed by a group.
