A five-month-old baby has died in hospital in the Polish city of Poznań after being admitted with severe injuries, according to local media reports.
Prosecutors, as cited by Polish media, said the infant was taken to hospital on Friday with a fractured skull and multiple bruises, injuries which investigators believe may indicate possible assault. Despite emergency surgery, the child later died.
Authorities said the child’s mother, a Georgian citizen, has been detained in connection with the case. The baby’s father, also a Georgian national, is currently being sought by police. Two Moldovan men have also been arrested.
