Modern Western propaganda is not much different from the well-known Soviet clichés, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday during an event marking the 20th anniversary of the RT television network.

“To be honest, today’s Western propaganda hardly differs from the familiar Soviet-era clichés. That is how they operate,” Putin stated.

He added this is precisely why true professionals, including those from the United States, Europe and other continents, have chosen to cooperate with RT.

Putin congratulated RT’s Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan and her colleagues on the outlet’s anniversary.

At the event, Russia’s Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova presented Simonyan with an award “for outstanding achievements in the protection of human and civil rights and freedoms”.
