A Romanian F-16 fighter jet shot down another Russian drone after it violated the country’s airspace on Sunday morning, Romanian President Nicușor Dan said on Sunday.

The President said an investigation by Romania’s Prosecutor General’s Office determined that the drone downed the previous day was a Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicle used by Russia in its war against Ukraine.

“It is unacceptable and intolerable that Russia continues to violate Romania’s airspace, which is also NATO and EU airspace. Such actions are unacceptable, and together with our allies, we take them very seriously,” Dan said.

Romania’s Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador over the incident. This marks the third Russian drone reportedly brought down over Romanian territory.
