At least nine people have been killed and 28 injured, including four children, in a Russian missile strike on Kyiv overnight, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service.
The attack caused widespread destruction and fires across five districts of the Ukrainian capital.
In the Solomianskyi district, two people were killed and eight injured, including two children. A multi-storey residential building was partially destroyed and caught fire, while vehicles in a nearby car park were also set ablaze. Three people were taken to hospital, and emergency crews evacuated 35 residents from the upper floors before extinguishing the fire.
In the Darnytskyi district, seven people were killed and 14 injured, including two children, the body said.
In the Shevchenkivskyi district, shelling set a non-residential building and several ambulances on fire. One person was injured, while another fire broke out on the grounds of a film studio and has since been contained.
The attack also caused damage in the Dniprovskyi and Pecherskyi districts, where a shop, four private homes and several outbuildings were damaged.
