Georgia’s Foreign Ministry has criticised a report adopted by the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, calling it “completely detached from reality” and accusing it of promoting disinformation.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Ministry said the report — prepared by Lithuanian MEP Rasa Juknevičienė — distorts facts and includes what it described as “absurd accusations”.

“The report is entirely disconnected from reality and, through deliberate distortion of facts and manipulation, spreads disinformation,” the Ministry said, adding that it damages the reputation of the European Parliament and undermines trust in European institutions among the Georgian public.

The statement reads the document risks fuelling polarisation within Georgia and encouraging what it described as “radical sentiments”.

The Ministry also expressed concern over what it called the use of EU institutions to launch “targeted attacks” against Georgia’s statehood, democratic institutions, society and values, including references to the Georgian Orthodox Church.

It further criticised what it described as attempts to “instrumentalise” Georgia’s European integration process and foreign policy priorities, warning that such actions could harm relations between Georgia and the European Union.

The statement added that pressure or threats towards Georgian society would be seen as interference in the country’s internal affairs.

The Ministry reaffirmed Georgia’s commitment to cooperation with the EU, stating it remains a “responsible and loyal partner” and is ready to continue engagement based on mutual respect, trust and shared values.
