Georgian and Turkish presidents hold expanded bilateral meeting in Ankara

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held an expanded-format meeting with the participation of their respective delegations on August 12.

The talks focused on key areas of bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Turkey, highlighting the close friendship and strategic partnership between the two nations. Special attention was given to collaboration in the fields of education and security.

The sides also discussed economic cooperation, expressing readiness to further strengthen bilateral and regional ties in political, economic, and cultural spheres.

The Georgian delegation included Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia, Georgia’s Ambassador to Turkey Archil Kalandia, representatives of the Presidential Administration, as well as the head and members of the Georgia–Turkey parliamentary friendship group — Giorgi Chkonia, Mariam Lashkhi, and Guram Macharashvili.
