Georgia’s fifth president Salome Zourabichvili, joining a protest march on Rustaveli Avenue, on Friday said the past year had strengthened public confidence and demonstrated that “people believe in themselves and know they can achieve anything”.
Zourabichvili stressed that despite pressure, citizens continue to stand firm.
“The past year has given us the most important thing - belief in ourselves, the knowledge that we can do anything. One year later, despite hysterical repressions, people still come out in these numbers. They stand, they march, they remain free-spirited and optimistic about the future. This is the greatest victory,” she said.
Zourabichvili added the Government was shifting to “hysterical repression and isolation”, which she described as a “classic sign of weakness”.
“This is a sign of strength - the strength of the people. When people speak their truth, no one can stand in their way. We stand together, and we will stand together until the end,” Zourabichvili said.
