Previously convicted man arrested in Tbilisi on drug charges

Georgia’s Interior Ministry said officers of the Tbilisi Main Division of the Patrol Police Department arrested a previously convicted man on charges of repeatedly and illegally purchasing and possessing particularly large quantities of narcotic drugs and facilitating their sale.

According to the ministry, police searched the suspect and his vehicle in Tbilisi and seized particularly large quantities of drugs allegedly prepared for sale, including mephedrone, alpha-PVP, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and marijuana.

The offenses carry a penalty of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment, according to the Interior Ministry.
