French Embassy congratulates Shio III on enthronement as Georgian Patriarch

The Embassy of France in Georgia has congratulated Shio III on his enthronement as Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia.

In a statement on Wednesday, the embassy extended congratulations to the new Patriarch, Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi and Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia, describing the occasion as an important moment for both the Georgian Orthodox Church and the country as a whole.

“France wishes the new Patriarch success in fulfilling his spiritual mission in the service of Georgia’s unity,” the statement said.

Shio III was formally enthroned at Svetitskhoveli Cathedral on 12 May.
