Members of the Georgian Border Police Coast Guard Department's Law Enforcement Tactical Team will take part in NATO's maritime security mission, Operation Sea Guardian, for the fifth time in July.
Ahead of the team's departure for Greece, Deputy Head of the Georgian Border Police Davit Bitskinashvili met its members and highlighted the importance of Georgia's participation in the maritime operation.
Bitskinashvili wished the Coast Guard representatives success and stressed the importance of representing Georgia with distinction during the international mission.
Operation Sea Guardian is NATO's only current maritime security operation. Its objectives include countering terrorism, supporting freedom of navigation, strengthening maritime security capabilities, preventing illegal economic activity and improving maritime situational awareness.
The meeting was also attended by Head of the Border Police Administration Tatia Sulakvelidze, Deputy Head of the Administration Tamta Danelia and Head of the International Relations Division Ramaz Papidze.
