Kereselidze said the Georgian side had not provided an adequate response and accused authorities of withholding information, alleging that some details were being learned from Russian sources

Shalva Kereselidze, Chairman of the parliamentary faction of opposition For Georgia party has accused the Georgian Foreign Ministry of failing to respond to recent developments concerning the village of Chorchana, near Russian-controlled Tskhinvali region, in the Khashuri municipality.

Speaking during a parliamentary hearing of Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, Kereselidze said that an occupation regime was presenting Chorchana as its own territory and claimed that the ministry had not issued any statement on the matter.

He argued that this, in his view, was damaging to Georgia’s sovereignty and international reputation.

Kereselidze also criticised ongoing legal proceedings related to former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, saying that referring to the so-called “Tskhinvali narrative” in this context was harmful to state interests.

He further claimed that during Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) meetings, representatives of the de facto South Ossetian authorities had referred to Chorchana as part of their territory and demanded the removal of a Georgian police checkpoint.

Kereselidze said the Georgian side had not provided an adequate response and accused authorities of withholding information, alleging that some details were being learned from Russian sources.

He questioned the government’s position on the Chorchana issue and asked for clarification on Georgia’s stance in the Geneva International Discussions format, as well as whether current policies reflected a previous public apology narrative attributed to ruling party figures.
