Russia has launched a new phase of round-the-clock terror against Ukrainian civilians, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said in a social media post.
Sybiha said that after targeting food warehouses, retail chains, pharmacies and critical databases, Russian forces had moved to systematically striking bridges that serve as vital arteries for the functioning of the country.
“The world must not simply watch and wait. We call on our partners to respond decisively, both in words and in deeds. We must make it clear to Moscow that it must stop its escalation and terror and engage in diplomacy and peace efforts,” Sybiha said.
Ukraine urged its allies to take concrete steps in response to Russian attacks, including strengthening the country’s air defences to protect critical infrastructure, imposing effective sanctions on Russia’s military-industrial complex and identifying individuals and organisations that assist the Russian government in committing crimes.
“This week has opened a new chapter in Russia’s round-the-clock campaign of terror against civilians,” Sybiha said.
Russian forces have struck two bridges in Kyiv six times over the past several days. The attacks occurred while civilian traffic was using the bridges and metro trains were crossing them.
