UK Minister for Europe, Stephen Doughty, described Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili as a “Georgian Dream representative” in a social media post following their phone conversation.
In the post on X, Doughty stated:
“Today I reiterated in the clearest terms to Georgian Dream representative @MakaB__ that police violence and arbitrary arrests in #Georgia are unacceptable. The UK will consider all options to ensure those responsible are held accountable.”
The comments come amid mounting international criticism over the Georgian government’s handling of peaceful protests and allegations of human rights abuses. Doughty’s remarks underscore the UK’s firm stance on ensuring accountability for the ongoing violence and arbitrary actions against demonstrators and opposition members in Georgia.
