Tbilisi International Airport has welcomed the first passengers arriving from Shymkent, Kazakhstan, on Scat Airlines, marking the start of regular flights on this route. The flights will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays.
The inaugural Shymkent-Tbilisi-Shymkent flight on December 15 was operated by a Boeing 737. To commemorate the launch, TAV Georgia, the operator of Tbilisi and Batumi airports, held a symbolic event at the airport.
This route is Kazakhstan’s fifth connection to Tbilisi International Airport, which already offers flights to Almaty, Astana, Atyrau, and Aktau.
Scat Airlines also operates flights to Aktau from Tbilisi, using Boeing 737 and CRJ-12 aircraft with three weekly departures, and maintains services from Batumi International Airport as well.
The airline serves 60 destinations, with its main hub at Shymkent International Airport. Shymkent, located near the Uzbek border in southern Kazakhstan, is the country’s third-largest city after Astana and Almaty, and serves as an important industrial, commercial, and cultural hub.
