Georgian police have uncovered a clandestine drug laboratory in the capital city of Tbilisi and arrested a Ukrainian citizen on suspicion of manufacturing illegal narcotics for distribution, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Saturday.
Investigators allege the suspect had been producing narcotic substances in a temporary residence using various chemical substances and precursors with the intention of selling the drugs.
During a search of the property, officers seized nearly 1.5 kilograms of suspected narcotics, including mephedrone and alpha-PVP, which police described as being of an especially large quantity.
The offences carry penalties of up to 20 years' imprisonment or life imprisonment if convicted.
