Police in Georgia have arrested two people on suspicion of carrying out a violent group robbery against a foreign national in central Tbilisi, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Monday.
Investigators found that the suspects assaulted the victim on a street in the Old Tbilisi district before stealing mobile phones and cash. They then fled the scene.
Officers from the Old Tbilisi Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department arrested both suspects in a hot pursuit following operational measures and investigative actions, the ministry said.
Police said further investigative activities are continuing.
The crime carries a maximum prison sentence of up to eight years.
