Georgia’s Deputy Parliament Speaker, Thea Tsulukiani, has criticised comments made by Tbilisi State University professor and psychologist Marine Chitashvili regarding the events of 4 October, during local elections and a planned opposition protest.

Speaking on TV channel Formula on Tuesday, Chitashvili said: “Had the events of 4 October unfolded more dramatically - with casualties, bloodshed, or gunfire - then we could say it was of decisive importance. The 4 October protest was simply irrationally planned.”

Tsulukiani described the remark as “deeply concerning.”

"Such words coming from a university professor are truly alarming," she wrote on social media.
