“It’s a matter of OSCE/ODIHR’s dignity—before they come to us, let them go to the European Parliament and tell them they are deeply offended that the 2024 report was discarded and thrown in the trash,” said Tengiz Sharmanashvili, a member of the parliamentary majority, in response to the OSCE/ODIHR’s recent statement expressing deep concern over legislation restricting civil society work and the detention of peaceful protesters.

According to Sharmanashvili, if those now urging the government to engage with OSCE/ODIHR acknowledge the organization’s 2024 parliamentary election report, the government will swiftly decide on inviting the mission again.

“Let’s talk about the rest after that. Until then, it’s not worth discussing. First, let those individuals recognize the 2024 report—those who are now calling on us to realign with OSCE/ODIHR—and I’m confident that the Georgian government will decide to invite them within half an hour,” Sharmanashvili told reporters.
