The Head of the Supreme Council of Georgia's Autonomous Republic of Adjara has said an opposition leader's call to end political polarisation amounted to an admission that division within society has been the opposition's main political tool.

Tsotne Ananidze was responding on Tuesday to remarks by Viktor Kipiani, leader of the For Georgia First party, who had spoken about the need for the opposition to end political polarisation.

In a post on social media, Ananidze said “a direct admission: polarisation and the division of society are the opposition's main political weapon."
