Ukrainian drones damaged 13 more vessels linked to Russia’s shadow fleet during overnight operations in the Black and Azov seas, the commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi, known by the call sign “Madyar”, said on Saturday.
Brovdi said the latest strikes disabled eight bulk cargo ships, one oil tanker, one liquefied gas tanker, one tugboat and two floating cranes.
He said the attacks formed part of an ongoing campaign targeting vessels used to transport Russian oil and other cargo in circumvention of international sanctions.
Brovdi said Ukrainian drones had struck a total of 172 vessels during the 13-day operation, which began on 6 July, including 118 in the Sea of Azov and 54 in the Black Sea.
“The objective remains unchanged: to disrupt the logistics of oil, fuel and cargo transported in circumvention of sanctions,” Brovdi said in a statement.
“We are turning every self-propelled vessel at sea into a floating barge that is blind and deaf. Our goal is not to pollute the sea with oil spills, so we are not making holes in them,” he added.
