Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen has reaffirmed Finland's support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling on Russia to fulfil its obligations under the 2008 ceasefire agreement.
In a post on social media marking the 18th anniversary of the Russia-Georgia war, Valtonen said the Georgian regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali remain under Russian occupation following Moscow's military intervention in 2008.
"Since Russia's invasion of Georgia in 2008, Abkhazia and South Ossetia have remained occupied. Finland firmly supports Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity," Valtonen wrote.
She also urged Russia to comply with the commitments it undertook under the 2008 ceasefire agreement.
