Political analyst Zaal Anjaparidze has commented on the State Security Service’s recent statement, in which the agency rejected claims circulating on various media platforms — based on Ukrainian intelligence materials — that secure communication terminals belonging to Russia’s Armed Forces were operating on Georgian territory, calling the spread of such information a deliberate provocation.
In a social media post, Anjaparidze said he hopes all unanswered questions will be clarified, provided that the Ukrainian side cooperates with Georgia.
“Hopefully, everything that needs to be clarified will be clarified, assuming the Ukrainian side cooperates with Georgia and does not act as it has before. They accused us of violating the sanctions regime against Russia and, when asked for evidence, turned up their noses. I fear the same may happen now,” he wrote.
Anjaparidze described the dissemination of the contested information as a “pure provocation,” criticising local groups for quickly amplifying it.
“The prompt way in which certain local, ‘stateless’ actors seized on this and are now calling on Ukraine to bomb Georgia - that is their clinical diagnosis, for which no treatment exists,” he added.
