Zelenskyy: Russia plans to increase ballistic missile production, Ukraine will counter Kremlin plans

Russia plans to increase the scale of its ballistic missile production, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, adding that Ukraine intends to counter the Kremlin’s plans.

“We now also have updated information about Russia’s production of ballistic missiles and its plans to expand this production. We will counter this, and it is important that we have the support of the leading countries of the world for corresponding sanctions,” Zelenskyy said.

According to the Ukrainian president, supplies of components, equipment and machinery used by Russia to manufacture missiles must be completely blocked.

“This is the responsibility of our partners: without foreign components, the Russians cannot implement any part of their missile program,” Zelenskyy said.

Ukraine has recently intensified calls for sanctions against Russian companies involved in ballistic-weapons production and for measures to cut Russia’s access to foreign-made components and machine-tool equipment. Ukrainian officials say they have identified more than 100 Russian companies involved in ballistic-weapons production.
