Health Minister: public transport won’t stop despite surge in Covid cases

Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze has dismissed reports that public transport may be stopped in all big cities of Georgia in the coming days to curb the spread of coronavirus. 

 

Tikaradze says that no restrictions are planned to be imposed. 

 

Georgia has reported 2,141 new cases of coronavirus, 5,081 recoveries and 44 deaths in the past 24 hours.45,674 people remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia as of today.

 

The country has confirmed 721,388 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020 of which 665,599 have recovered, while 10,089 have died from the virus.

 

The new cases for Tbilisi and regions are as follows: 

Tbilisi - 928 cases 

Adjara - 99 cases 

Imereti - 401 cases 

Kvemo Kartli - 145 cases 

Shida Kartli - 105 cases 

Guria - 34 cases 

Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 128 cases 

Kakheti - 221 cases 

Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 31 cases 

Samtskhe-Javakheti - 40 cases 

Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 9 cases

A total of 6,575 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today, while 38,008 individuals remain at home due to a mild form of the viru and 36,891 others are in self-isolation.

1,036,464 individuals have received at least one dose of the vaccine in the country since March 2021, while 940,546 people have been fully vaccinated.
