Tbilisi Mayor announces dismantling of pedestrian bridge at Justice House

Citing an assessment by technical experts, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze on Thursday  announced the pedestrian bridge near the House of Justice will undergo dismantlement due to its severe structural condition.

Kaladze explained that the bridge's current state and the substantial financial investment required for rehabilitation had led to the decision against its repair.

"The accredited expert bureau has determined that the pedestrian bridge near the House of Justice is in a precarious technical condition, necessitating significant financial resources for rehabilitation.

Additionally, it lacks accessibility for disabled individuals. The report clearly states that the bridge cannot continue to operate in its current state and demands comprehensive rehabilitation and reconstruction, essentially mandating its complete dismantling and replacement," stated Kaladze.

The Mayor further elaborated that alternative pedestrian crossings and traffic control measures had been implemented in the vicinity, rendering the bridge obsolete.

"We have installed pedestrian crossings near the House of Justice to ensure citizens can move safely and freely without hindrance. Consequently, we have decided to dismantle the pedestrian bridge in the interest of citizen safety," Kaladze affirmed.
