European integration “key priority”, Georgia-EU relations reset expected next year, PM

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday reaffirmed European integration as Georgia’s “primary foreign policy objective”, projecting a “reset of relations” with the EU early next year amid ongoing tensions due to the policies of the ruling Georgian Dream autorites.

Speaking at a government meeting, the PM highlighted the importance of economic growth and fulfilling EU obligations, aiming for “full membership” by 2030.

“To achieve European integration by 2030, we must develop the country in all directions, especially economically,” Kobakhidze stated, adding that “no one will accept the country in the European Union” without strong economic indicators.

He also noted that Georgia intends to meet over 90% of its Association Agreement and Free Trade Agreement obligations by 2028.
