Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday criticized opposition forces and NGOs for “attempting to disrupt the constitutional order following election results”, asserting that the state “remains resilient” and “cannot be shaken.” Speaking at a government meeting, Kobakhidze emphasized the opposition’s “inability” to accept electoral outcomes has become a “repeated pattern”.
“Once again, what has been repeated in every election – the opposition cannot adapt to electoral defeat,” Kobakhidze claimed. He accused NGOs, which he said are focused on “fighting for the non-transparency of their own finances,” of aligning with opposition forces. “Together, these forces are once again confronting the constitutional arrangement in this country… everyone knows very well that the state stands in its place,” he added.
The Prime Minister praised law enforcement agencies and election authorities for “maintaining stability and ensuring a peaceful electoral environment”. He thanked Vakhtang Gomelauri, Georgia’s Minister of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry for “effectively managing public safety” across the country, noting that over 3,100 polling stations for general elections had experienced “complete peace.”
Kobakhidze also commended the Central Election Commission (CEC) for administering the first fully electronic voting system, with over 90% of voters registering and casting ballots digitally. “A special effort was needed to introduce these technologies properly, and the CEC fully handled this task,” he noted, extending his thanks to the election administration for ensuring a smooth process.
