The Government Administration reports that the Government of Georgia has decided to dissolve the Public Service Bureau (PSB) as a Legal Entity of Public Law (LEPL) to streamline governance and optimize expenses.
Following amendments to the “Law on Public Service,” several key functions have already been removed from the PSB’s mandate. These include the oversight of asset declarations for public officials and the monitoring of ethics and integrity in the civil service, which have now been transferred to the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
At present, the PSB’s role is largely limited to working on public administration reform in close coordination with the relevant department of the Government Administration. Additionally, it continues to publish job competition announcements for vacancies in the public sector—a function that is mainly technical in nature.
Given that the PSB has already lost one-third of its original responsibilities, maintaining it as a LEPL is no longer deemed necessary.
As a result, the Government of Georgia has decided that, effective April 1, 2025, the Public Service Bureau will cease to function as an LEPL. The remaining responsibilities will be transferred to the relevant departments within the Government Administration.
