Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine will not participate in negotiations between the US and Russia in Saudi Arabia.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine was not informed about the talks and will not recognize any outcomes reached without its involvement.
“Ukraine will not participate. Ukraine knew nothing about this, and any negotiations about Ukraine without Ukraine are meaningless. We cannot recognize any agreements made without us, and we will not acknowledge such agreements. The US has the right to engage in discussions if they have bilateral issues. To be honest, this was talked about before, but only now has it become public. At that time, speaking with the aggressor was considered inappropriate,” Zelenskyy said.
He also noted that a Ukrainian delegation would visit Saudi Arabia on an “official visit.”
“Journalists and everyone understand that ‘official visit’ status is not granted within one to three days—it is simply impossible. During the war, I have had many visits, but this one holds an official status. Relevant documents were prepared, and so on. Therefore, this has no connection to what is happening between US and Russian representatives in Saudi Arabia. When I am in Saudi Arabia, I will certainly ask His Highness Mohammed (Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince) what he knows about this. I am simply curious,” Zelenskyy stated.
A high-level meeting between US and Russian officials regarding Ukraine is scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia tomorrow.
