“There is no professional or civic organization left in Georgian society that hasn’t openly expressed protest,” stated Giorgi Vashadze, leader of the United National Movement. According to him, the continuous protests by citizens have yielded tangible results.
“Our citizens’ relentless, weeks-long protests have borne fruit. The self-declared government has no recognition, neither domestically nor internationally. In official international documents, they are referred to as Ivanishvili’s Georgian Dream. Sanctioning of high-ranking officials accused of undermining democracy and engaging in violence has begun, including by countries like the United States. Georgian society has united—there isn’t a single professional or civic group that hasn’t voiced their protest,” Vashadze emphasized.
