Gia Japaridze, a member of the Unity coalition, on Monday expressed pride in the coalition’s recent visit to the United States. Japaridze described the invitation to Tina Bokuchava and Giorgi Vashadze to attend a Democratic Party event in the US as both an honor and a privilege.
He claimed the visit underscored the coalition’s commitment to restoring and strengthening Georgian-American relations and criticized the ruling Georgian Dream party for allegedly deteriorating the relations over recent years. Japaridze stressed that while the GD haD been distancing itself from the US, the Unity coalition remained a “strong ally” of America.
“Our goal is to rejuvenate Georgian-American relations and attract Western investments to Georgia,” Japaridze said. He highlighted that Bokuchava and Vashadze’s trip included attending the US Democratic Party convention, where Vice President Kamala Harris would be nominated as the party’s presidential candidate. Japaridze also noted that Bokuchava had previously attended the Republican Party convention, where President Donald Trump was nominated.
