Aleko Elisashvili, a leader of the Strong Georgia coalition, shared a message from detention, expressing resilience and hope for victory despite the challenges he has faced.
“Friends, thank you all for your support and solidarity. Personally, I am holding strong, driven by the fire of victory. I won’t lie, these past days have been tough both physically and mentally, but being here is nothing compared to what is happening outside. I know for sure we will endure and triumph,” Elisashvili wrote.
The politician noted that while the regime relies heavily on police forces to maintain control, his interactions with many officers revealed their desire for an end to the current crisis. “From the moment of my arrest, I have encountered countless police officers across the system, and trust me, they are eager for this to end,” he stated, expressing confidence in an eventual victory.
Elisashvili humorously signed off as “Prisoner of Rustavi No. 12 Facility,” maintaining his optimistic tone.
Elisashvili was arrested on December 4 and faces up to three years in prison. His detention has sparked criticism from opposition groups and civil society, who view it as a politically motivated move.
