Tina Bokuchava, Chairperson of the opposition United National Movement (UNM), introduced Levan Sanikidze as the spokesperson for the party’s electoral campaign ahead of what she called the most critical elections in Georgia’s recent history.
“I am delighted to present an exceptionally talented, patriotic young man who loves his homeland dearly, my friend Levan Sanikidze. Along with his personal qualities, it’s worth mentioning that he is the grandson of the legendary Levan Sanikidze. I am proud to introduce him as the campaign spokesperson for the United National Movement for these crucial elections,” Bokuchava stated.
She emphasized that the October 26 elections would be won by the Georgian people, who are proud, freedom-loving Europeans who will never apologize to the enemy. She stressed that Georgian youth, who have proven to the world that Georgia’s place is in Europe, will play a decisive role in the upcoming elections.
“In contrast, [Bidzina] Ivanishvili is attempting to reconcile with the enemy, turn friends into foes, and spread this false narrative ahead of the elections to maintain his grip on power. Georgia’s peaceful future lies in Europe, where every citizen’s safety is protected, and all enjoy European prosperity. Meanwhile, Ivanishvili offers a betrayal of national interests and a life in poverty and isolation. This is a time when top Georgian officials are demonstratively ignored by the US, visa-free travel with the European Union is at risk, and financial sanctions threaten Ivanishvili himself, which could destabilize the country’s financial system,” Bokuchava declared.
Bokuchava’s criticism towards the ruling Georgian Dream leader came in response to the latest statements of the party founder and Honorary Chair, Bidzina Ivanishvili, who said that „achieving national unity is only possible through reconciliation and mutual forgiveness.” He also voiced several times that the former government of Georgia is to be blamed for the 2008 Russia-Georgia war, adding Georgians „should find strength to apologize to the Ossetian people.”
