Georgia’s anti-occupation movement head announces party ahead of elections

Davit Katsarava, leader of the anti-occupation movement, on Monday announced the creation of a new political party called We.

Katsarava shared the news on social media, saying the party had been established by himself, his comrades, and associates “by order of the people and for the people” ahead of Georgia’s October 26 general elections.

He claimed many citizens were eager for change but often asked who could ensure the change.

“Our new political party, We, was created to serve the people. We know that unity is our strength, and our doors are open to everyone who believes in the cause. We are confident that our victory on October 26 is inevitable,” Katsarava wrote.

He emphasized that the party brought together professionals and civil activists who had “tirelessly fought” for the country’s welfare. “We fight for our common victory,” he added.

Katsarava has been criticized many times by Government officials as a representative of the “radical opposition”.
